Phil Jagielka is expected to return from a knee injury ready for Everton's final game of 2015 against Stoke City.

The England centre-back has not played for the Toffees since the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on October 24 after suffering medial ligament damage.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez says the 33-year-old is in the final 15 days of his recovery and could play at Goodison on either December 28 or against Tottenham on January 3.

"He had very good news from the specialist yesterday," Martinez said ahead of his side's trip to Norwich on Saturday.

"We are well on track or probably ahead of what we expected. We are in probably [in] the final 15 days before he can rejoin the group.

"Realistically we are talking about joining the group for Boxing Day and Stoke, or Spurs at home. That week seems realistic for him to come back.

"It has been a straightforward knee injury and he's recovering really well."

Martinez also confirmed that Leighton Baines has not suffered any negative reaction to a long-term injury after coming on as a substitute in last weekend's draw with Crystal Palace.

He said: "After the Middlesbrough game, Leighton took a bit of a knock and it took him 24 hours to get back to normal.

"After Palace he had no effects or reaction, which is what we need to be aware of after he was out for such a long period. He is getting very close but we have to manage him.

"The squad we had for the last game is all fit and available. James McCarthy requires a fitness test on Friday to see if he can be in the squad, but apart from that there is nothing."
