Ipswich have recalled midfielder Luke Hyam from his loan spell at fellow Championship outfit Rotherham.

The 24-year-old has been on loan with the Millers since the end of November as he steps up his recovery from knee surgery in the summer.

He made five appearances for Neil Redfearn's side, two of them starts, but has been recalled to Portman Road ahead of the busy festive period, with Ipswich suffering from injury problems.

Rotherham boss Redfearn said: "Mick (McCarthy) has injuries and it is coming into a time when he needs his players back.

"I thought he [Luke Hyam] was outstanding in the victory over Hull City last Saturday and we wish him all the best for the future."
