Jurgen Klopp caused a stir at his news conference by wearing a Beatles t-shirt

Jurgen Klopp has likened his Liverpool side's confidence to a 'little flower' and warned his players against complacency as they attempt to maintain their fine recent form.

The Reds confirmed their place in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday after a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford secured a 3-1 aggregate win over their Premier League rivals.

Liverpool go into Sunday's match at Southampton unbeaten in their last four league matches, but Klopp insists confidence can quickly evaporate.

"The problem with confidence is that it's a little flower and if you step on it it's gone in a second," said the German, who wore a Beatles t-shirt to his pre-match news conference.

"But it's not only about confidence, it's about feeling more and more trust in our way of playing. Everything is prepared for a good game. Southampton are a really good side and if we want to win we have to be really good.

"We try to do our best and get the right result. We have to carry on this way. To play like this, a possession team with a high rhythm and intensive style, then we can get a few points. If we collect enough we will have to see what will happen. We have to win our games and then see."

Klopp also revealed defender Alberto Moreno will undergo a scan on the hamstring injury which ruled him out of the Europa League last-16 second leg against United.

Jon Flanagan is likely to deputise for Moreno against the Saints and Klopp says negotiations are still ongoing over a new contract for the 23-year-old, but is hopeful a deal can be struck.

"I was a little bit involved in the negotiations. Of course we are all happy. It's good for us but better for Flanno," he said.

"There are a lot of full-backs in the world but not many Scousers and not many who have come back from this sort of injury. We try to do our best and get the right result. We have to carry on this way."
