Quique Sanchez Flores insists he is happy at Watford amid the managerial upheaval at his former club Valencia.

Gary Neville was sacked after just four months in charge at the Mestalla and Flores has expressed his sympathy for the Englishman.

The Watford boss, who spent a decade as a player with Valencia, managed the club between 2005 and 2007.

But after leading Watford to the FA Cup semi-finals and Premier League safety, Flores has shown no appetite for a quick return to his homeland.

The 51-year-old, a fixture in Valencia's team before he earned a move to Real Madrid in 1994, said: "I'm sad for the situation of Valencia, it's very strange.

"I'm sad for the situation of Gary Neville because every time a coach doesn't finish a project it is obviously bad news.

"I'm expecting Valencia will recuperate and have a good run because it is necessary for the club.

Chico Sanchez Flores sets his future targets, but which players does he want to sign?

"We are a family. We are working in this way and I can say, of course, that I am happy at Watford."

While there is no known interest in Flores from Valencia, he has been linked in reports with the Spain job after Euro 2016.

Once more, however, the Watford boss was emphatic in his response as he committed himself to the Vicarage Road outfit.

He added: "Maybe Vicente Del Bosque has decided to give up the national team after an amazing period and it's open for different names.

"That is not bad for me and it is good that in Spain they consider I am ready for that but my link now is completely with Watford.

"It's my country and I have caps in every single category of the national team, from under-16, under-18, under-21 and Olympic to the first team.

"But I don't want to consider anything now that is not Watford. People know how I am thinking during the season when I belong to one team.

"For me it is Watford and tomorrow, Watford. In two months it will be Watford and then Watford.

"We have our objectives and the fans need to know we - not just the coach but also the players - are completely focused on finishing the season in the best way that is possible."
