Barnsley's Adam Hammill put his side 2-0 up against Millwall in the League One play-off final with a wonder goal at Wembley

Barnsley's Adam Hammill put his side 2-0 up against Millwall in the League One play-off final with a wonder goal at Wembley.

The 28-year-old hit a superb, curling shot from 25 yards out in the 19th minute of the showpiece game to put his side in command of the tie.

It was the second time Hammill has struck at Wembley this season, having also netted from outside the box in Barnsley's Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory against Oxford United last month.

Ashley Fletcher had given the lead after less than two minutes at Wembley, before Hammill's super strike.

It was the second cracker in as many days at Wembley, after Mo Diame's fine strike won the Championship play-off final for Hull against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Mark Beevers pulled one back before half-time to get Millwall back into the tie but Lloyd Isgrove headed Paul Heckingbottom's side back into a 3-1 lead and the Yorkshire side held on to return to the second tier after two terms away.
