England's Toulon starlets: Gareth Southgate's winning squad

England Under-21s beat France in the final to win the Toulon Tournament for the first time in 22 years.

Jamie Redknapp captained the side the last time the Young Lions triumphed in the competition in 1994, with the likes of Sol Campbell and Robbie Fowler also featuring.

Here, we take a look at all 20 members of Gareth Southgate's winning squad...

Jordan Pickford (Sunderland) 

Position: Goalkeeper Age: 22

England's first-choice goalkeeper at Under-21 level made his debut for Sunderland in the FA Cup in January, and has since gone on to make two Premier League appearances. 

Angus Gunn (Manchester City)

Position: Goalkeeper Age: 20

Appeared twice for England in the tournament, conceding Guinea's early goal before they went on to beat them 7-1 in the group stage, and keeping a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Portugal.

Dominic Iorfa (Wolves) 

Position: Right-back Age: 20

The 20-year-old is a regular in the Championship for Wolves, and has also established himself as Gareth Southgate's first-choice right-back for the Under-21s.

Ben Chilwell (Leicester)

Position: Left-back Age: 19

Chilwell has been hotly-tipped as a star of the future for Leicester City, although he didn't feature in their remarkable Premier League victory. He did, however, made three cup appearances and had a spell on loan at Huddersfield.

Matt Targett (Southampton) 

Position: Left-back Age: 20

Another youngster to come through Southampton's academy, Targett made 20 appearances for Ronald Koeman's side last season.

Jack Stephens (Southampton)

Position: Centre-back Age: 22

Yet to make his debut for Southampton, Stephens spent the second half of last season on loan at Coventry in League One, where he made 16 appearances.

Calum Chambers (Arsenal)

Position: Centre-back Age: 21

The only member of the squad capped at senior level, Chambers suffered a difficult season at Arsenal and has been linked with a loan move away from the Emirates.

Rob Holding (Bolton)

Position: Centre-back Age: 20

The Bolton youngster has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, after the 20-year-old made 30 appearances for the struggling Trotters in 2015/16.

Kortney Hause (Wolves)

Position: Centre-back Age: 20

Another Wolves defender who has made the breakthrough at Under-21 level, Hause featured 27 times in the Championship last season.

Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea)

Position: Centre-back/Midfielder Age: 21

A regular at centre-back for the Under-21s, Chalobah has enjoyed successful loan spells in the Championship in midfield with Watford and Middlesbrough. He spent 2015/16 on loan at Napoli but struggled to break into the side.

James Ward-Prowse (Southampton)

Position: Midfielder Age: 21

Became the first England Under-21 captain to lift the Toulon trophy since Redknapp in 1994. Has won 23 caps for the Young Lions and has already made more than 100 appearances for Southampton.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea)

Position: Midfielder Age: 20

The Chelsea youngster is one of the most hotly-tipped players in the country, and scored the decisive goal in the final as England beat France 2-1.

Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

Position: Midfielder Age: 20

Made his first appearances for England in Toulon after switching allegiance from Republic of Ireland. Netted twice in four appearances in the tournament.

Matt Grimes (Swansea)

Position: Midfielder Age: 20

The highly-rated Swansea midfielder made four appearances at the Liberty Stadium in 2015/16 before spending the end of the season on loan at Blackburn in the Championship.

John Swift (Chelsea)

Position: Midfielder Age: 20

Swift impressed on loan at Brentford in 2015/16 netting seven times in 27 appearances in the Championship. Has so far made just one appearance for Chelsea more than two years ago. 

Nathan Redmond (Norwich)

Position: Midfielder Age: 22

Redmond was Norwich's second-highest goalscorer as they were relegated from the Premier League, netting six times despite not always being a regular starter for Alex Neil's side.

Kasey Palmer (Chelsea)

Position: Midfielder Age: 19

Another Chelsea youngster in the squad, Palmer featured in all four group games in Toulon but didn't play in the final.

Lewis Baker (Chelsea)

Position: Midfielder/Striker Age: 21

The Chelsea youngster was the top scorer for England in Toulon, netting four times during the tournament and opened the scoring in the final. Spent 2015/16 on loan at Vitesse in the Eredivisie.

Cauley Woodrow (Fulham)

Position: Striker Age: 21

Managed four goals in 17 appearances for Fulham in 2015/16. May get more chances next season with Moussa Dembele departing the club.

Duncan Watmore (Sunderland)

Position: Striker Age: 22

A breakthrough season at Sunderland saw him net four times in 25 games, with a large number of those coming from the bench. Watmore returned to fitness in April to help steer the Black Cats to Premier League survival.
