Pre-season friendlies round-up: West Ham beaten by Rubin Kazan

There was plenty of pre-season friendly action on Wednesday and you can watch the highlights right here.

West Ham are still waiting for their first pre-season win after losing 3-0 to Rubin Kazan in Austria, on Wednesday.

The Hammers, who drew with FC Slovacko just 24 hours earlier, named a strong starting line-up that included Mark Noble, Aaron Cresswell, Michail Antonio and Gokhan Tore.

Sofiane Feghouli started for the second game in a row and youngsters Domingos Quina and Reece Burke were also in the XI.

Rubin took the lead after 23 minutes when Ilzat Akhmetov escaped Noble's challenge and crossed for Marko Devic to turn in.

Enner Valencia headed over the bar from an offside position before substitute Declan Rice misplaced a pass across goal and Maxime Lestienne pounced to make it 2-0.

Feghouli and Pedro Obiang shot over in the second half as West Ham struggled to create clear chances, managing just two efforts on target.

Rubin wrapped up the win when Gokdeniz Karadeniz burst through the defence and fired past Adrian.

New signing Isaac Hayden was on target as Newcastle came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Andy Williams scored a first-half double to put the League Two side ahead, but 21-year-old Hayden - who signed from Arsenal earlier this month - pulled one back with a deflected strike from a corner on 51 minutes.

Ayoze Perez then struck two minutes into injury-time with a curling right-footed shot to snatch a late draw for Rafa Benitez's side.

Georginio Wijnaldum, who had been a Tottenham target earlier this summer, was introduced from the bench for the final 11 minutes of the match.

Aston Villa were held to a 1-1 draw by League One side Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium.

Jordan Ayew slotted the Championship club ahead with a neat finish with his right foot just before the break.

Roberto Di Matteo's side could not hold on however, with Matt Taylor's terrific run and strike levelling matters 12 minutes from time.

Elsewhere, Sheffield Wednesday continued their preparations for the new Championship season with a 1-0 victory over Portuguese giants Benfica at Hillsborough.

Fernando Forestieri scored the only goal of the game after 23 minutes in front of more than 12,000 spectators.

Norwich City suffered their first defeat of pre-season after losing 3-1 to Czech outfit Dukla Praha in Austria.

The Championship side trailed by two goals before Josh Murphy's late consolation, only for Dukla to add a third moments before full-time.

Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town ran out 1-0 winners away at League Two outfit Colchester United.

Brett Pitman scored the only goal just before half-time, taking on the goalkeeper before sliding the ball into the empty net.

Macclesfield Town and Wigan Athletic played out a 0-0 draw and earlier in the day, League One Fleetwood Town were thrashed 5-0 by Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.
