Jonathan Woodgate was coy on the rumour linking him to Liverpool as a scout but did say he plans to get into management

Jonathan Woodgate refused to confirm whether he'd been appointed as a scout by Liverpool on Goals on Sunday.

Sky sources reported on Thursday that the former defender, who retired in the summer after being released by Middlesbrough, would join Jurgen Klopp's staff to scout in Spain and Portugal.

Woodgate, 36, joined Chris Kamara and Ben Shephard on the Goals on Sunday sofa, and said: "I can't really say anything about that at moment, it's a bit up in the air.

"But I'm looking at options and where I'm going to go from here. I want to make sure my next step is the right step."

Woodgate also revealed his aspirations to be a manager one day, but told Ben and Kammy he has a long way to go before he is ready to take charge of a club.
