The former Atletico Madrid midfielder proved to be the match-winner in La Coruna, blasting home from 35 yards out to score the only goal of the game.
Garcia, 30, is a Spain international and a key player for Athletic Bilbao having joined the club from Atletico in 2015.
The goal gave Athletic Bilbao their first points of the season, moving them out of the relegation zone after a difficult start to the campaign.
