Robert Lewandowski scored all three goals for Poland as they beat Denmark 3-2 in Group E of the World Cup Qualifiers

Robert Lewandowski fired a hat-trick as Poland held on for their first World Cup qualifying win of the campaign with a 3-2 victory in Warsaw against Group E rivals Denmark.

Lewandowski scored twice in the first half, his second from the penalty spot, and struck again early in the second half as Poland opened up a three-goal lead.

Kasper Schmeichel could do nothing about the opening goal in the 20th minute when the Bayern Munich striker converted from close range following Kamil Grosicki's cross.

Poland moved further ahead in the 34th minute. Arkadiusz Milik was fouled in the area by Denmark defender Jannik Vestergaard and Lewandowski placed his penalty into Schmeichel's bottom left-hand corner.

Lewandowski was on the end of a fine third goal for Poland two minutes after the break, firing home a low angled shot from just inside the area. It was his third hat-trick of the season having already bagged two for Bayern back in August.
