Four Chesterfield directors resign as boardroom crisis deepens

Four more directors have resigned at Chesterfield, plunging the club's board into further crisis.
Sources at the club have told Sky Sports News HQ that a proposal to rectify deepening financial problems was put to directors on Friday but was rejected by four of the remaining seven.
Those men are vice-chairman David Jones, Alan Goodall, Philip Taylor and Chris Breeze. Majority shareholder Dave Allen was the eighth but resigned as chairman and director on Monday.
It leaves only club secretary Ashley Carson, Mike Warner and John Croot left on the Spireites board.
A club statement read: "It has been confirmed that David Jones, Chris Breeze, Philip Taylor and Alan Goodall have all today resigned as directors of the club."
Allen shocked the struggling Sky Bet League One club by resigning as chairman and director on Monday after two fellow shareholders refused his request to indefinitely write-off interest on their loans.
The Spireites' board have held emergency talks every day this week as concerns have grown over their financial future, and they confirmed on Thursday that Allen had been officially removed as a director from the Companies House register.
Allen's investments since 2009 have been vital to the running of the club and Sky sources understand he has been making up the club's cash shortfall month by month.
But after telling the board he "could not carry on", sources have told Sky Sports News HQ that he wants to sell the club.
