It was an unsavoury end to an absorbing encounter at the Etihad, as Chelsea came back from a goal down to win thanks to strikes from Diego Costa, Willian and Eden Hazard.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Thierry Henry said: "It was an amazing game, let's hope that is not going to tarnish what we saw because we saw a lot of good stuff.

"When Pep [Guardiola] sees it back, he will see David Luiz goes for the ball. He goes strong but he gets the ball.

"You can't complain, we all love Aguero but that was a bit too much. [Nathaniel] Chalobah then pushes Aguero, could he have got something too?"

City are now likely to be without their star striker for an extended period of time through suspension, but Gianfranco Zola believes Guardiola's side can cope in his absence.

"Man City is not just Aguero, Man City is a team that produces a lot of chances and they will find a way," Zola added. "It's a pity because it was a fantastic game of football. To see it end up like that is a little bit sad."
