Karamoko Dembele makes England U15s debut having already played for Scotland U16s

Karamoko Dembele, the Celtic youth star, has made his first appearance for England Under-15s having already represented Scotland.

The 13-year-old played for England's U15s in a 5-3 win over Turkey at St George's Park on Monday after being invited to train at the centre by the FA.

The London-born midfielder had already made his Scotland debut in the Under-16s' 2-2 Victory Shield clash with Wales last month.

Dembele said on Instagram: "Good experience at England, glad to have won 5-3 against Turkey and have assisted 1 ⚽️, played well."

FIFA eligibility rules state any player who assumes a new nationality shall be eligible to play for the new team only if they were born on the territory of the relevant association, their biological mother, father, grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant association, or they have lived continuously for at least five years after reaching their 18th birthday.

SFA chief executive Stewart Regan recently insisted he would do "everything" he can to make sure Dembele came through the Scottish youth system.

He said: "If you have talented players who are eligible for other countries, they are always going to be attractive to other associations. Ultimately, the choice will come down to the boy and his parents."
