Sam Allardyce is continuing discussions at Crystal Palace's training ground about becoming the new manager on Friday afternoon.
Allardyce left his home in Bolton this morning while his representatives began negotiations with Palace, before holding two hours of talks with chairman Steve Parish in the afternoon.
Sky Sports News HQ understand that no deal has been agreed as yet, but the mood seems to be positive with progress still being made with no major sticking points met yet.
Palace are lining up Allardyce to replace Alan Pardew, who was sacked on Thursday.
It is hoped a deal can be agreed so Allardyce can take training on Saturday and be in charge for Palace's visit to Watford on Boxing Day.
As he drove into the training ground, Allardyce told Sky Sports News HQ: "I'm just here to talk to Steve and assuming it all goes all right it should be ok."
Asked if he felt was the right job to re-launch his management career - after his ill-fated one-match England spell - he said: "Fantastic."
The 1-0 home loss to Chelsea last Saturday left the Eagles in 17th place in the table, just one point above the relegation zone.
Palace have endured a dismal 2016 in the Premier League, winning just six of their 36 matches, collecting only 26 points.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ's Premier League Daily on Friday morning, former Newcastle United defender Steve Howey tipped Allardyce to be a success at the south London club.
He said: "For me there's only one stand out candidate and that's Sam. His record speaks for itself, he's proven it time and time again. I think he would be a hit with the Palace fans, the players would like him."
