Jan Vertonghen in clear after incident in Tottenham's game at Southampton

Jan Vertonghen will not face retrospective action over an incident not seen by the officials during Tottenham's clash with Southampton.
The Belgium defender caught Saints striker Jay Rodriguez in the face as he completed a clearance in the 17th minute of Wednesday's match at St Mary's.
Vertonghen was not penalised by referee Mike Dean, or any of his assistants, but he was booked later in the match and will miss the Nissan Super Sunday clash with Watford as it was his fifth yellow card of the season.
But worries of an extended ban for a retrospective red card have now passed.
The Football Association's independent review panel has viewed footage of the incident and the unanimous decision required for further action to be taken was not forthcoming.
Tottenham bounced back from conceding an early goal to Virgil van Dijk to win 4-1 and move within a point of fourth-placed Arsenal.
