- Andre Gray became the first Burnley player to score a Premier League hat-trick, with it coming less than three years after he scored a hat-trick in the Conference for Luton.
- Gray scored more goals in this game than he had in his previous 12 Premier League games put together.
- This was Burnley's biggest Premier League win since April 2010 when they won 4-1 against Hull City.
- Burnley are the first newly promoted Premier League side to win seven of their first 11 home games since Charlton Athletic in 2000/01, who also won seven.
- Jermain Defoe has had a hand in five of Sunderland's six away Premier League goals this season and has now scored in 130 different Premier League games.
- Only four players have scored in more different Premier League games - Wayne Rooney (147), Frank Lampard (149), Andy Cole (149) and Alan Shearer (190).
