Chesterfield have sacked manager Danny Wilson after Saturday's defeat at Bradford left them third-bottom in League One.

The Yorkshireman and assistant Chris Morgan have left the club after Saturday's defeat at Bradford left them in the League One relegation places.

Ritchie Humphreys has been appointed on a caretaker basis and will be assisted by goalkeeping coach Matt Duke.

Wilson, one of a small number of bosses to have taken charge of more than 1,000 games, replaced Dean Saunders as Spireites manager on Christmas Eve 2015 and kept them up last season.

But a run of one win from six games means they are just three points clear of League One's bottom club Oldham.
