Mamadou Sakho admits he broke club rules on Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States as he opened up on his falling out with Jurgen Klopp.

The defender has been frozen out by Klopp after turning up late to a team-meeting and training session in the summer and is expected to leave the club before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

Sakho, who last played for Liverpool in their 4-0 Merseyside derby win over Everton last April, is understood to have attracted interest from Swansea, though his £105,000-per-week wages remain a stumbling block in any deal.

The 26-year-old France international has opened up on the mistakes he has made at Liverpool and explained how he has coped without first-team football.

"It is true that I turned up late. There was a rule that I should have observed. I do not at all see myself as above the rules, I respect everyone," Sakho told Canal Football Club.

"I paid my fine, I was sanctioned, I apologised to my team-mates and my manager. Aside from that… I do not want to go into the controversies.

"I work a lot, I have the chance to train with the reserve team, which allows me to keep up. And beside that I have my trainer. So I work a lot to stay on top of my game."

"I think I have a few more wonderful years to experience abroad first. And PSG, why not, but afterwards.

"I think Marseille have a very good team. Bafé (Gomis) and Patrice (Evra) are friends of mine. But my answer to this might remind certain people about a song. When there is PSG, Sakho is with them."
