Football remembers Ugo Ehiogu

Former England and Premier League defender Ugo Ehiogu was remembered at football grounds across the country.

Ehiogu, a former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough defender, died at the age of 44 on Friday, after suffering a cardiac arrest at Tottenham Hotspur's training facility on Thursday.

Middlesbrough's players were joined by their Bournemouth counterparts for a period of applause prior to kick-off on Saturday afternoon and Boro supporters will have the opportunity to pay their respects on Wednesday evening at the Riverside ahead of the club's game against Sunderland.

Black armbands were later worn by Chelsea and Tottenham players before kick-off in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday evening.

Football rivals also united at Villa Park on Sunday, with Birmingham fans joining Aston Villa supporters in remembering Ehiogu with a minute's applause and chants of appreciation.
