Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic calls for change in Premier League medal rule

Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic believes the rule on Premier League winners' medals should be changed.

The 29-year-old made only his second Premier League appearance of the season in the 4-3 victory over Watford on Monday Night Football and was due to miss out on a medal during the officially ceremony on Sunday.

Premier League rules stipulate a player must appear in five matches to earn a medal, but as the role of a No 2 is seen as vital, special dispensation has been granted.

"I think the rule should be changed, I don't know about the whole five appearances," Begovic told Sky Sports News HQ.

"Having been part of the group all year, we've all sacrificed, played our part in the team each and every day, but they really have to look at that rule again.

"It's the rule for now, thankfully I get one and obviously to have that in your career is great."
