Nile Ranger has been sentenced to eight months in jail after admitting to online banking fraud.
Appearing at Wood Green Crown Court, the 26-year-old Southend striker pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to defraud by obtaining bank details and transferring money.
Ranger, who has played for Newcastle, Swindon and Blackpool, admitted switching over £2,000 from a woman's account to another in 2015.
In February of that year, Ranger moved £2,090 from an account belonging to Diane Bloss into another.
Ranger made more than 20 Premier League appearances during the 2011/12 season for Newcastle.
Earlier this year Ranger, who lives in Westcliff-on-Sea, was suspended by Southend for non-football related matters.
