FA introducing new bans for grassroots players who abuse officials

Red cards will be introduced into cricket next year

The Football Association is introducing tough new bans for grassroots players who abuse match officials.

Under the FA's new rules, players found to have assaulted an official will face a minimum ban of five years.

Any physical contact with an official will result in, at least, an 84-day ban and a £100 fine.

Any players found to have threatened an official will be banned for a minimum of 56 days, or six matches, and fined at least £50.

These new rules will come into effect for this coming, 2017/18 season.
