Bournemouth suffered a defeat to Valencia in a pre-season friendly on Sunday while Rangers beat Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

The Cherries welcomed the La Liga side to the Vitality Stadium, but were beaten 1-0 thanks to a goal from Fabian Orellana.

It was a fine effort from the midfielder, who fired home from around 25 yards to curl the ball into the back of the net in the 72nd minute and end Bournemouth's unbeaten pre-season run.

Sheffield Wednesday ended their preparations for the new Sky Bet Championship season with a defeat to Rangers, with the Scottish Premiership side winning 2-0.

The Gers took the lead three minutes before the end of the first half with Josh Windass as he slotted home past an on-rushing Kieran Westwood.

While the Owls began the second half well, it was Rangers who doubled their lead 10 minutes after the break as Kenny Miller smashed the ball into the top of the net to seal the victory for the visitors.

Goalkeeper Westwood was replaced in the 61st minute after suffering an injury with manager Carlos Carvalhal adding that he was 'OK' after the match.
