PSV Eindhoven extended their lead at the top of the Eredivisie to five points with a 5-2 win at VVV-Venlo.

Jurgen Locadia put PSV ahead midway through the first half but goals either side of half-time from Clint Leemans, from the penalty spot, and Torino Hunte turned the game on its head.

Gaston Pereiro levelled things up once more just before the hour mark and Jerold Promes' red card after 61 minutes swung the match firmly in the visitors' favour as PSV capitalised with further goals from Daniel Schwaab, Mauro Junior and Pereiro.

It was a first defeat in five matches for VVV while a fourth straight win for PSV saw them open up a sizeable cushion over Feyenoord and Ajax.

Vitesse missed the chance to move up to second place in the table after they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Heracles Almelo, with Bryan Linssen equalising three minutes from the end following Kristoffer Peterson's 73rd-minute opener.

It was also 1-1 between FC Groningen and AZ Alkmaar at Noordlease Stadion, where Alireza Jahanbakhsh and Mimoun Mahi were on the scoresheet either side of half-time.

Willem II are off the bottom of the table after coming from behind to beat FC Twente 3-1 for a first home win of the campaign.
