Tony Pulis and Nigel Pearson are high on Middlesbrough’s managerial wishlist following the sacking of Garry Monk, according to Sky sources.

Middlesbrough parted company with Monk on Saturday evening following the club's 2-1 win away to Sheffield Wednesday.

Pulis, sacked by West Brom in November, and former Middlesbrough defender Pearson are high on owner Steve Gibson's wanted list.

Sky Sports News understands Pulis wants to spend Christmas with his family before returning to the dugout, but Gibson is keen to make an appointment as soon as possible in the midst of Boro's hectic festive fixtures.
