Alan Pardew felt the late decision by Mike Dean was tough on Arsenal

Alan Pardew feels Mike Dean's decision to award his West Brom side a late penalty against Arsenal was tough on the Gunners.

In the 1-1 draw at The Hawthorns on Super Sunday, Calum Chambers was harshly adjudged to have handled in the area late on, allowing Jay Rodriguez to step up and equalise just minutes after Arsenal's opener from James McClean's own goal.

Though West Brom boss Pardew said his side have deserved a bit of luck, he admitted the decision could have gone either way.

He told Sky Sports: "When you keep talking to a team about doing the right things, application and 'learning your luck,' when it doesn't happen it is hard.

"But we got something today at last. The decision is a tough one on Arsenal. I've seen it and wow, he could not have given it, could have given it, whatever, but we deserved the break.

"If we put that much commitment and effort in, we will get enough breaks to win.

Arsene Wenger insisted it was definitely not a penalty and does not understand why video technology is yet to be introduced to the Premier League

"Turning points are always strange in these situations. We need to win a game, we still haven't got that win, and we've had a lot of draws, more than any team in the Premier League. We've got to turn them into wins. We've got to get that second or third goal."

The result leaves West Brom, who are without a win in the Premier League since August, second bottom of the table, ahead of Swansea only on goal difference.

With the transfer window opening, Pardew insisted he is looking to be active in the transfer market.

West Brom 1-1 Arsenal

Asked if he needs to shake up West Brom's squad in the January window, Pardew said: "I do, I think we need to try and move something around.

"If I look at the history of teams in the bottom three, and we're at the bottom at the moment, you've got to do some business just to freshen things up, and add a different character, even just for the dressing room.

"So I'll be working hard with the chairman and sporting director here to do that."
