Former Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is a leading candidate to take over as MK Dons manager, according to Sky sources
The League One club parted company with Robbie Neilson on Saturday night following the 2-1 defeat to Northampton that left the Dons in the relegation zone after a run of one win in 11 games.
Grayson was sacked by Sunderland earlier this season but has won promotion from League One with Blackpool, Leeds, Huddersfield and Preston in the last 10 years.
Assistant manager Stevie Crawford and first-team coach Neil MacFarlane also left the club after 13 months under Neilson at Stadium MK.
Neilson took charge in December 2016, replacing Karl Robinson, after spending two years as Hearts manager.
The 37-year-old joined MK Dons with the club only two points above the relegation zone and guided them to a 12th-place finish.
In a statement, the club said: "Robbie, Stevie and Neil have all been totally dedicated to MK Dons, working tirelessly throughout their 13 months at Stadium MK.
"We thank them and everyone at the football club wishes them every success in the future."
