FIFA is considering a £17 billion offer to create two new global tournaments, Sky Sports News understands.

A group of investors want to buy rights to an expanded Club World Cup and a new Global Nations League.

FIFA has never sold control of its events - and any new joint-venture would see it maintain a 51 per cent stake.

A report in the New York Times suggested the FIFA Council rejected president Gianni Infantino's request to push forward with the proposal at last month's meeting in Colombia.

FIFA hopes to expand the current Club World Cup to include at least 12 teams from Europe - something UEFA fear could compete with the Champions League.

A new Global Nations League would include a preliminary round, regional play-offs and a final tournament featuring a handful of top teams.
