Pep Guardiola gives his reaction after Manchester City broke even more records during their 3-1 victory against Brighton

Pep Guardiola has warned it will take a huge effort for Manchester City's record-breaking season to be eclipsed.

The records tumbled on Yaya Toure's final home game as a City player as the champions beat Brighton 3-1 to secure a hat-trick of Premier League milestones.

City became the first English side to win 31 games in a 38-game top-flight season, took their goals tally to 105 and set a new record points haul of 97 with one game to play.

"We cannot deny, we are so proud [of the records]," Guardiola told Sky Sports.

"In England, the 80s belonged to Liverpool with [Kenny] Dalglish, [Graeme] Souness, [Ian] Rush.

"The 90s were Sir Alex Ferguson's sides with players like Paul Scholes, Roy Keane, David Beckham and Peter Schmeichel.

Check out Yaya Toure's unique farewell as he was surrounded by his teammates during his exit!

"Nobody scored more goals, more points. Now it's 97 so if someone wants to beat that record they have to be good and win a lot of games.

"Today is a special day, especially for Yaya Toure. Because of players like him we are able to get 97 points.

"I'm happy for his outstanding performance and the game he played. We had a special moment in the locker room that we will never forget, it was so good, a perfect night for us.

"The players played perfect. Brighton is a team that has quality, especially with Knockaert and Izquierdo.

"They defended deep like Huddersfield but we defended much better and made a good performance. I'm so glad."
