Iceland winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson's World Cup is in doubt after it was confirmed he has torn a calf muscle.
The 27-year-old Burnley midfielder was injured during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Argentina and is being monitored by medical staff ahead of Friday's game with Nigeria.
Iceland assistant coach Helgi Koldvidsson told a press conference: "Johann Berg Gudmundsson has torn a muscle. It remains a question whether he will be fit, but we'll see on match-day."
If Gudmundsson is ruled out for the tournament Iceland cannot call up a replacement as FIFA rules prevent teams from doing so once the World Cup has begun. They play their final group game against Croatia on Tuesday.
Gudmundsson started all five games at Euro 2016, including the 2-1 victory over England, as Iceland reached the quarter-finals. His performances in the tournament led to Burnley making him their first summer signing.
He was one of the Clarets' standout performers last season, scoring a memorable equaliser against champions Manchester City as Burnley went on to finish seventh and qualify for the Europa League. Burnley will face Aberdeen in the second qualifying round.
