Fulham have turned down a £20m offer from London rivals West Ham for captain Tom Cairney, according to Sky sources.

The Hammers' have decided to resurrect their pursuit of the midfielder, after having two bids for him rejected in January.

Cairney scored the winning goal in the play-off final against Aston Villa last month to secure Fulham's return to the Premier League.

Sky Sports News understood that Cairney was keen to join West Ham when they bid for him in January, but it is unclear how Fulham's promotion to the top flight has affected his thinking.

He is the latest midfielder to have attracted West Ham's interest after it emerged they are keen on signing Jack Wilshere and Jean-Michael Seri.

West Ham's move for Cairney is their latest in what is promising to be a busy summer.
