West Brom central defender Craig Dawson has handed in an official transfer request to the club’s board, Sky Sports News understands.

Dawson sees his future away from The Hawthorns after they were relegated from the Premier League.

West Brom's new manager Darren Moore is desperate to keep the core of his squad together, though, and Dawson is a crucial part of his plans.

Both Dawson and goalkeeper Ben Foster refused to fly out for the team's pre-season training camp in Portugal on Tuesday.

West Ham and Burnley are understood to have had bids rejected for Dawson, who is believed to be frustrated by the board's hard-line stance over his future.

Foster is set to sign for Watford this week, according to Sky sources.

He has one year left on his contract at The Hawthorns and it is thought West Brom could ask for up to £3m for him.
