Simic silences Argentines

Croatia produced a fine result in Geneva as they came from behind to beat Argentina 3-2.

An entertaining contest was full of chances and it was, somewhat surprisingly, Argentina that were trailing after just three minutes when Croatia striker Ivan Klasnic stole in to give his side the lead.

Croatia's advantage would, however, prove short-lived as within three minutes they were trailing courtesy of Argentina's diminutive duo Carlos Tevez and Lionel Messi (pictured).

Tevez struck first before Messi cemented his growing reputation with a brilliant effort that was bent past a crestfallen Stipe Pletikosa in the Croatia goal.

Croatia fought back in the second period and levelled matters in the 52nd minute when Dario Srna etched his name on the scoresheet with a header.

With the game heading for a stalemate, Croatia put in a corner and with another header, Dario Simic silenced the South Americans in injury time.
