Juan Mata was hugely disappointed after Manchester United’s defeat at Swansea.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata admitted his side "lost the game in five minutes" in their defeat at Swansea.

The Spaniard had put the visitors in front shortly after half time, but Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis turned the game on its head with two swift goals to secure the spoils.

It was United's first defeat of the season, and a dejected Mata was frustrated they couldn't take advantage after his early strike.

"It is a big disappointment," he said. "We did the most difficult thing, which is score first. We put ourselves ahead in the result, then in five minutes we lost the game.

Louis van Gaal's side lost 2-1 to the Welsh side in both encounters last season, and in the meeting at the Liberty Stadium in February they again succumbed to defeat having gone in front.

Louis van Gaal says his side couldn't cope with Swansea's tactical changes

The visitors dominated the early stages in the Super Sunday encounter, but Mata admitted they couldn't cope with the host's changes.

"We are disappointed because we knew we had to learn a lesson from last season," he added.

"We did the same – we scored first then lost the game, and we are very disappointed.

"We created chances, especially in the first 15, 20 minutes. We played great football, but after that they came into the game and put pressure on us."
