Bournemouth's record-signing Tyrone Mings will miss the entire season while Max Gradel is out for six months, both because of knee injuries.

Right-back Mings, who signed from Ipswich in an £8m deal in June, will be sidelined for at least nine months, Cherries manager Eddie Howe has confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ.

Mings, 22, suffered torn anterior and medial ligaments six minutes into his Premier League debut in the 1-1 draw with Leicester City on August 29, having replaced Charlie Daniels at half-time.

Mings needed oxygen after tackling Foxes midfielder Danny Drinkwater, and neither he nor Gradel were named in Bournemouth's Premier League squad on Thursday.

Winger Gradel, signed from St Etienne this summer, also suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his knee in the same game and will not play until at least February.

Howe said: "Max will be out for pretty much six months. He's had his operation and is recovering now. Tyrone will be out for at least nine.

"I feel for players more than anyone. I'm really disappointed for them that they're both going to be out for long periods.

"We are certainly going to miss them. They were a key part of what we were doing going forward. We hunted both of them, especially Max, for a long time.

"Both players are positive about the future and we will look after them and back them. It's a big blow but we have to recover and it will be an opportunity for somebody else."
