Liverpool striker Christian Benteke will have an MRI scan on his injured hamstring on Tuesday.

Benteke was substituted at half-time during Sunday's 1-1 draw at home to Norwich but manager Brendan Rodgers was quick to play down any fears he had suffered an injury, insisting the decision was precautionary.

"His hamstring felt a little bit tight, so we didn't want to take a risk," Rodgers said.

But assistant manager Gary McAllister confirmed in a press conference on Tuesday that Benteke will undergo a scan on his thigh on the eve of Liverpool's Capital One Cup clash with Carlisle at Anfield.
