Premier League: Who's your club's bogey team?

After defeating Arsenal last weekend, Chelsea's trip to struggling Newcastle seems like an ideal opportunity for the Premier League title holders to continue their resurgence.
But Newcastle are something of a bogey team for Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho: he's never won at St James' Park in five Premier League visits.
Just last season a Papiss Cisse double ended the Blues' undefeated start to the campaign and Mourinho has only managed to take two points from a possible 15 at Newcastle.
The bogey-team phenomenon is something football fans across the land will be familiar with. Here we take a look at where Premier League teams regularly come unstuck…

However, more surprisingly the Gunners have won just one of four home Premier League games against Swansea, losing two. Their problems away to Stoke are well documented - they have won just once in seven trips to the Britannia, losing four times.

When it comes to facing Manchester United, Villa's record is particularly poor. They have won just two of their 24 home games against United and lost 78 per cent of their Premier League fixtures at Old Trafford. In fact, trips to Manchester are rarely happy experiences for Villa fans - the club have also lost 78 per cent of away games at Manchester City.

Bournemouth are competing in their first Premier League campaign. However, their 1-0 defeat at Anfield earlier this season followed a familiar trend. The Cherries have never beaten Liverpool in any competition (D2 L5).

As well as Mourinho's poor record at St James' Park, he has also never won at the Emirates, collecting a draw on each visit to Arsenal's new ground.

However, Palace also have a poor record at home to Liverpool, having conceded more goals on their own patch to the Reds in the Premier League than they have against any other side (14).

A less surprising stat is that Everton have been issued more red cards in matches against their neighbours Liverpool than any other side in the Premier League. In fact, the 13 reds Everton players have picked up against Liverpool is at least six more than against any other opponent.

Everton are Leicester's true Premier League bogey team, though - they've won just one of their 18 meetings with them.

Away days at Manchester City and Chelsea have been particularly unproductive for Liverpool in the Premier League. The Reds have won just three times in 18 visits to Man City and on four of their 23 trips to Stamford Bridge. Their 17 per cent win rates at those grounds are the lowest against any team they've played more than 10 times.
Trips to Tottenham have been unpleasent for some Liverpool players, too - the Reds have scored four own goals at White Hart Lane, the most they have scored at any Premier League away ground.

However, Leicester City have emerged as a surprise bogey team - in fixtures played at Manchester City, at least. Man City have lost 75 per cent of home Premier League games to the Foxes (three out of four), only scoring their first home win against them last season.

United have also been shown nine red cards against Liverpool - three more than they have against any other Premier League side.

However, Newcastle's travelling fans have seen more goals conceded at Anfield than any other Premier League ground. Liverpool have netted 50 times when Newcastle have been the visiting team.

However, away days at Newcastle have been tough, too. Norwich have lost five of their six visits to St James' Park in the Premier League, drawing on the other occasion.

However, it is Southampton's defending which has been the issue on trips to Arsenal. Saints have never kept a clean sheet in 16 Premier League visits to the Gunners.

Stoke have not kept a clean sheet in any of their six home matches with West Ham - only against Manchester United have they gone more games without one (seven).

Games against Manchester United have also been dogged by a string of own goals from the Sunderland players. They've put the ball in their own net six times against United - more than against any other team in the Premier League.

Swansea have also failed to score in any of their three home meetings with Southampton.

Tottenham also average a red card once every three games against Stoke in the Premier League. They've had five players dismissed in 15 games against the Potters.

The Hornets have failed to score in four previous meetings with Aston Villa.

West Brom aren't the only Premier League team with a poor record against Manchester United - but theirs is particularly bad. They haven't won any of their nine home games against United (D2 L7), conceding three goals per game in that run (27 in total).

The Hammers have also been shown five red cards at Spurs. That's at least two more than they have picked up away to any other Premier League team.
