Tottenham forward Nacer Chadli has suffered possible ankle ligament damage and will be assessed over the next 48 hours.

The Belgian was involved in a heavy collision in the eighth minute of Spurs' 0-0 draw at home to Liverpool on Saturday and was taken off on a stretcher.

Head coach Maurcio Pochettino admitted he did not yet know the full extent of the injury but hoped it was not too serious.

He said: "We need to assess tomorrow and after tomorrow we will know more.

"Maybe it's a problem in his ankle ligaments but we hope it is not a big, big issue.

"After the game it was painful and in the next 24 or 48 hours we will be able to see better how the injury is."

He said: "Of course we should. We only conceded one clear chance on a corner to them, and we created four clear chances ourselves.

"I am happy with my players and the performance but we need to be clinical in-front of goal.

"We expect Harry Kane to score every time he gets a chance but we are not worried about him. The goal is coming."
