Vincent Kompany has denied any falling out with manager Manuel Pellegrini, but admits there was a "difference of opinion" on him playing for Belgium earlier this month.
Pellegrini was unhappy that Kompany played for Belgium against Israel on October 13 - a decision taken by the defender himself - despite missing the previous five City games with a calf problem.
But Kompany says himself and Pellegrini share a common goal to win the Premier League, and that their relationship is good.
He told Sky Sports: "It's one of those things, the whole situation is a matter of opinions.
"It's difficult to say too much about it but I'm back, I'm happy to be back and whenever I get the chance to put a shirt on I'll give everything I have, for my national team and my club.
"There's nothing to be cleared, it's a difference in opinon on the matter, and it's fine."
Kompany started the last two City games on the bench, but was back in the starting line-up for the 0-0 draw at rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Kompany added: "We still have the same goal, which is winning the league. Ultimately I'm a professional so whatever it is, it's fine.
"The relationship is good, the problem is there's two opinionated people who have strong characters with a difference in opinion on one single subject, but it doesn't compromise anything we do going forward.
"This club needs to win trophies, there's no excuses, that's clear for the manager and clear to me. that's the only thing that matter."
