Gylfi Sigurdsson has played down the fracas involving players from Swansea and Aston Villa as they left the field on Saturday following their Premier League clash at Villa Park.

The tunnel was visibly shaking from side to side as stewards rushed in to calm the situation down.

Both sides could end up being punished by the FA following the incident, which happened after Swansea had won a tense encounter between two out of form teams 2-1.

Villa, who are now bottom of the table, have since sacked manager Tim Sherwood after a run of six straight losses.

During the first half at Villa Park, Federico Fernandez and Micah Richards confronted each other and had to be separated by team-mates, with the matter spilling over in the tunnel at the end of the game.

The players have sorted it out, nothing major happened.

But Sigurdsson says Saturday's bust up merely shows the passion of the players and believes the incident is now closed

Sigurdsson, who scored Swansea's second-half equaliser with an excellent free-kick, said: "It's typical when both teams are struggling, both players were frustrated.

"But I think it shows the passion and how much they want to win. Of course they're going to get situations where you're angry and those things happen, we've seen it plenty of times before.

"The players have sorted it out, nothing major happened. We just had a little laugh about it and had a couple of jokes at Federico. It was all fun and games."

The FA will wait to see referee Neil Swarbrick's report on Monday before deciding whether to take action.
