Claudio Ranieri admits Leicester are only likely to review Jamie Vardy's contract situation next summer despite reported interest in him from Real Madrid.

The Premier League's top scorer has found the net 10 times this season including in each of his last seven top flight games.

That has resulted in claims in the Spanish press that Bernabeu manager Rafael Benitez is keen on the former Fleetwood Town striker.

Vardy only signed a new four-year deal with City last year but his stock has undoubtedly risen following his stunning start to the campaign.

Ranieri maintains he is relaxed about the 28-year-old's future, however, and is not concerned by the speculation surrounding him.

The Italian said: "He is happy with us, he's happy with his contract and that's important. Maybe [we'll look at it] at the end of the season, with a lot of goals scored.

"Speculation is good because football is speculation but it's important me and my players are very focused about the pitch.

"Not many teams can buy him now. He is very happy here and we don't want to sell him, it's clear. When I look at him he feels good and that's important."

Vardy is poised to miss Leicester's Capital One Cup tie with Hull City on Tuesday as Ranieri looks to rest him before Saturday's league trip to West Brom.

In the meantime, the former Chelsea manager is looking to get a result which keeps him on course for his first visit to Wembley.

Ranieri added: "It's a good dream. I think it's important to put some dreams forward and then fight to achieve this.

"I would like to go to Wembley because when I arrived in the final of the FA Cup [with Chelsea in 2002 against Arsenal] Wembley was being refurbished and we were in Cardiff.

"Of course I would like to go but there are more steps to go. It's not an easy match against Hull. They want to go back to the Premier League."
