Mark Hughes has dismissed talk of goalkeeper Jack Butland leaving Stoke.
Butland signed a four-year deal at the Britannia Stadium in March and became the club's No 1 in the summer when Asmir Begovic left for Chelsea.
His impressive performances have established the 22-year-old as Joe Hart's main competitor to be England's first-choice keeper at next summer's European Championships and he played in the 3-0 win in Lithuania in October, with Roy Hodgson's side already assured of their place in the tournament.
But Hughes is adamant that Butland, who will face Sheffield Wednesday in the Capital One Cup quarter-final on Tuesday, is staying with the Potters.
"Jack's going nowhere," he said. "He's progressing well but he's very early into his career development as a No 1 keeper. People are aware of him - and they have been for a long time.
"Jack forced his way into the England squad when he was 19 but he needs a season-in-season-out of week-in-week-out in the Premier League. He's had a great career progression, every step he has taken he has dealt with.
"Now it's about consolidating himself in a very good Premier League team. That's the challenge for him."
Hughes refused to put a price tag on Butland but admitted £20m would not be enough when the figure was put to him.
"Do I think that's a fair value? No. We wouldn't place a value on him anyway."
Butland was the League Cup hero for Stoke in their last round when they beat Chelsea 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out at the Britannia and he saved Eden Hazard's penalty to send them through to the last eight.
Hughes added: "It was a great save but it was a great performance on the night. A lot of things happened and Jack got the plaudits because it was a key moment and a decisive save in the time we needed him. Leading into that a lot of players put a hell of a shift in to get through."
