Tottenham have agreed a deal with Southampton for midfielder Victor Wanyama, say Sky sources

Victor Wanyama has undergone a medical at Tottenham ahead of a move from Southampton.

It is understood Wanyama flew in from his native Kenya on Sunday ready for the exam and to finalise personal terms on a four-year deal.

Sky sources reported on Saturday that Spurs and the Saints were close to agreeing a deal for the midfielder to be reunited with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

And the clubs have since settled on a fee of £11m for Wanyama to move to White Hart Lane.

Wanyama has just a year remaining on his Southampton contract and it is understood that former club Celtic would benefit financially from a sell-on clause if the Saints recouped the full £12m they paid for him in 2013.

Tottenham tried to sign the player last August when Wanyama told Ronald Koeman he wished to leave and rejoin Pochettino, who signed him while boss on the south coast, but Southampton refused to sell.

Spurs are keen to sign a new central-midfield 'destroyer' this summer, as they prepare for a return to the Champions League, and they believe Wanyama fits the criteria of a young yet experienced player who can go straight into their first-team squad.
