Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino expects signings in the coming weeks

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Tottenham expect to be active in the transfer market in the next few weeks.

Spurs have already signed midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton and Dutch forward Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar, while they are expected to announce the arrival of Georges-Kevin N'Koudou from Marseille in the coming days.

Speaking ahead of his side's friendly with Atletico Madrid in Melbourne on Friday, Pochettino confirmed: "I expect some signings in the next few weeks, we will see what happens but I expect some activity."

The 44-year-old also admitted to feeling flattered by comparisons between himself and compatriot Diego Simeone in the press.

"If you compare Diego with me, thank you, because it is a big prize, because I consider him one of the best managers in the world," Pochettino added. "He deserves all the credit he gets because it is difficult to take a team like Atletico Madrid and play finals, Champions League finals and win the league in Spain.

"I know him very well and I am sure in his mind is to one day manage Argentina like me, but it is not the right moment now.

Focusing on his own squad, Pochettino was delighted to announce that Belgium international Jan Vertonghen is returning to fitness following an ankle injury while on international duty at Euro 2016.

"Jan is back in London and training well now, he's very close to coming back," Pochettino added. "We'll see when we arrive on Monday and start to train with the whole group [if Vertonghen will be fit to face Everton on August 13], but if it's not possible we have enough players to replace him."
