The FA of Wales has rejected an approach from Hull City to talk to manager Chris Coleman about the vacancy at the KCOM Stadium.

Hull have been searching for a new manager since the departure of Steve Bruce, who stepped down last month over reported concern at a lack of investment, having steered the club back into the Premier League.

Sky in Italy reported on Monday the Tigers had made an approach to Gianfranco Zola and the Welsh FA has now confirmed it has denied City permission to talk to Coleman, who signed a new two-year contract in May before leading the country to the Euro 2016 semi-finals.

"Following discussions amongst leading figures within the association the approach has been rejected.

"Chris Coleman signed a new two year contract in May 2016 ahead of the UEFA European Championships in France and the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
