Toby Alderweireld speaks to Soccer Saturday

Toby Alderweireld insists Tottenham are not looking at other teams and are only focused on themselves this Premier League season.

Spurs finished third last season, challenging for the title with Leicester and Arsenal, and drew their opening game of the season 1-1 at Everton.

Alderweireld had won four titles in four years with Ajax and Atletico Madrid before moving to the Premier League in 2014, and the Belgian defender insists Spurs will look to put in the same work-rate and hope other details go their way.

"We're not looking to other teams, that's their problem, we look at our own squad to be better," he told Sky Sports.

"If you're a winner inside, you want to win everything that is possible, and you want to go for it every season.

"I know what it is [like] to win the league, it is something special, and every season it is a new story. It's about details. We have to work the same way we worked last season and then some details may be different.

"That's the way we want to work and get better as a team, because we're young, so we can improve a lot. We work hard every day."

Despite a long season with Spurs and a run to the quarter-final of Euro 2016 with Belgium in France, Alderweireld says he feels fitter than last season, but admits the short break is all part of being a footballer at the top level.

"I feel 100 per cent fit, fitter than last season, so I feel good," he said.

"I went around 19, 20 days without kicking a football. It's not a lot, especially if you're playing in the Premier League you don't get a break in the season, but we knew that before coming to the Premier League.

"You don't get a lot of holiday, but I love football so that's not a problem for me."
