Robbie Fowler says Jurgen Klopp is the perfect manager to help Liverpool teen sensation Ben Woodburn progress his career.
Woodburn wrote his name into the Anfield history books last Tuesday when, at 17 years and 45 days, he became the club's youngest goalscorer.
In only his second first-team match, having made his debut against Sunderland just four days earlier, the academy youngster grabbed the clinching goal in Liverpool's 2-0 EFL Cup victory over Leeds United.
The goal ended Michael Owen's near 20-year period as the club's youngest scorer and immediately drew comparisons with the man who went on to score 158 goals in 267 matches for the Reds.
And Fowler, who was 18 when he scored the first of his 183 Liverpool goals against Fulham in September 1993, believes the club has another star on its hands.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Fowler said: "I don't really know him that well but from everything I've heard he's a really level headed lad and it helps when you're a good player.
"He's been prolific in all the age groups he's played in and he's come in and scored a good goal. His movement was excellent.
"It's important now that he gets well looked after. The players and staff at Liverpool know that and they stop you from getting a bit too big for your boots, but it's fantastic for him and we shouldn't get away from that.
"You could see how much it meant to him when he scored, you could see the joy on his face, and it obviously meant a lot to the other lads as well as you saw when the camera panned to the bench.
"I think he'll be well looked after because Jurgen is very astute when it comes to handling young players and doing what's right for them."
Fellow Kop legend Ian Rush has worked with the Wales youth player at international level and and has long since known that Liverpool had a special talent coming through the ranks.
"He has been fantastic," Rush said. "I had him with Wales, being elite performance director of the Welsh FA Trust, when he was 14 and he had great potential, but to be the youngest ever goalscorer for Liverpool is absolutely amazing.
"He has his head screwed on, he is a sensible lad and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him. I think he will knuckle down and get on with it but you don't throw him in straightaway."
Fowler and Rush were speaking at the launch of the Liverpool Legends v Real Madrid Legends match which will take place at Anfield on Saturday, March 25. It will raise funds for the Liverpool FC Foundation.
