Ashley Young remains a target for Shandong Luneng ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline, according to Sky sources.

The Chinese Super League are chasing a £10m deal for Young, who has started just seven games under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Two of those starts came at full-back in the past week, though, and the former England international wants to stay at Old Trafford, at least until the summer.

Speaking after Wednesday's Europa League win at St Etienne, he said: "I am concentrating on my football. I am here at United for the rest of the season and another year, so I am concentrating on everything here."

Young's United skipper Wayne Rooney has also ruled out leaving for China before the deadline despite his agent travelling to the Far East for talks.

Rooney's statement, released on Thursday, read: "Despite the interest which has been shown from other clubs, for which I'm grateful, I want to end recent speculation and say that I am staying at Manchester United.
