N'Golo Kante is the SkySports.com user favourite with 27,000 votes, followed by Chelsea team-mate Eden Hazard (21,000) after a fine season for the Premier League leaders.

Spurs' Dele Alli has enjoyed another impressive campaign under Mauricio Pochettino, and the midfielder finished third with 18,000 votes, ahead of Romelu Lukaku with 16,000.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic came fifth (16,000), followed by Sadio Mane of Liverpool (12,000).

With only six players making the shortlist, SkySports.com users believe Spurs striker Harry Kane will not make the cut, having received 9,700 votes.

David Luiz, Philippe Coutinho, Diego Costa, Alexis Sanchez, Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero rounded off the list of those outside the top six.

The official six-man shortlist for the award will be announced at 11am on Wednesday morning.
