Harry Kane has 20 goals for a third year in a row but can he add a Premier League title?

Harry Kane celebrates after giving Tottenham a 3-0 lead

Harry Kane has already emulated Alan Shearer, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Thierry Henry by scoring 20 Premier League goals in three consecutive seasons.

But can the fourth man to achieve that feat also repeat their accomplishment of winning the Premier League title in the process?

Alan Shearer actually passed the 30-goal mark three times in succession between 1993 and 1996, firing Blackburn Rovers to the title in the second of those campaigns.

Ruud van Nistelrooy also scored 20 goals in three Premier League seasons in a row - his first three as a Manchester United player between 2001 and 2004.

Once again, it was the second of those three seasons that resulted in a title win with the Dutchman's goals helping United regain the crown in 2002/03.

The other two Premier League campaigns saw Arsenal take the title with Thierry Henry instrumental in that achievement.

Henry actually scored more than 20 goals in five consecutive campaigns between 2001 and 2006 - but nobody had done so even three times in a row since until Kane came along.

Kane says winning the last derby at White Hart Lane was an amazing feeling

The Tottenham striker was dismissed by some as a one-season wonder when he broke through with 21 goals for the club in 2014/15.

But the Spurs man followed up with a further 25 goals the following campaign - enough to claim the Premier League golden boot.

And Kane brought up the 20-goal tally this season with his second-half goal in the 4-0 win against Bournemouth last month.

In doing so, the 23-year-old became the youngest man to score 20 goals in three consecutive Premier League seasons.

Shearer had been 25 when he managed it, Henry 26 and Van Nistelrooy 27. It's a reminder that time is on the England forward's side.

He will, of course, be looking to emulate Henry's accomplishment of scoring 20 goals in five consecutive seasons.

But more than that, Kane will be aiming to ensure he does not become the only man to score with such consistency and still not have a Premier League title to show for his efforts.
